Religious Observances

Graduation Service – Service honoring local graduates of high school, college, and universities. Held in June.

Obon Service – Major service held the latter part of July honoring those who has preceded us in life. Obon Odori follows to celebrate the religious significance of the day.

Fall Ohigan – With the Fall Equinox in mid-September this service is held where we devote ourselves to the realization of harmony in our lives.

Eitaikyo (Perpetual Memorial Service) – Major service which helps us to remember continually those who have gone before us.

Bishops Memorial – A service held in mid-October honors all the deceased Bishops of the Buddhist Churches of America.

Fujinkai Memorial Service – This combined service is held in mid November in memory of Eshinni sama and all deceased members of the Buddhist Women’s Association.

Bodhi Day (Jodo-E) – Service honoring Siddhartha Gautama, who on December 8th attained Enlightenment and became the Buddha.

Year End Service (Joya-E) – Held on the last day of the year to reflect on our 108 imperfections.
